Home of the largest fresh water lake in Quebec. Lake Mistassini In the past, in documents and on maps, Mistissini was referred to as Mistassini or Baie du Poste by non-natives. However, the Crees have always named this community Mistissini and today Mistissini is the official name of the community. However, the Lake is still named Mistassini Lake because no official name change has been made yet. Also, one should know that there is a non-native community in the Lac-St-Jean region that is named Mistassini.
